Pasture & Profit Project

Pasture and Profit in Protected Landscapes offers a free innovative mentoring and events programme across 3 National Landscapes (Shropshire Hills, Wye Valley & Malvern Hills).

Funded by Farming in Protected Landscapes, this project is aimed at  farmers interested in increasing farm profits and biodiversity from grass-based systems. It's farmer-led and supports farmers who would like to reduce inputs and are interested in moving towards rotational grazing.

  • farmer led on-farm events and online webinars - see what events are coming up
  • get paired with a farmer mentor to work on your pasture-based systems (limited spaces)
  • join a like-minded community with a year's Pasture for Life membership

How to get involved:

1. Sign up to the programme (it's free). You'll be invited to a series of on-farm events and webinars covering a wide range of topics. Topics are decided based on feedback from participants. You'll also benefit from a range of supporting documents to support change on your farm.

2. Farmer mentor - a unique opportunity for a cohort of farmers within the programme to be allocated a trained, experienced farmer mentor, who will visit your farm and provide ongoing follow up support as you explore/implement new ways of managing your livestock enterprise(s).

If you are not a Pasture for Life member, when joining the programme you will receive a free  membership (worth £120/year) for the duration of the programme.  This includes access to all the other opportunities to learn from farmers across the UK transitioning to lower input livestock practices, including a vibrant online forum.

By joining there is no expectation that you transition to 100% pasture-fed and/or certify with Pasture for Life. Pasture for Life wants to support you at whatever stage in your farming journey you are at irrespective of your long-term plans.
