We do not own or manage any land directly, so work closely with others to conserve and enhance the Shropshire Hills.
Our small staff team undertake projects, advise, support and help to co-ordinate the work of others, influence policy and raise awareness. Click on the links to find out more about our current and previous projects:
Shropshire Hills Landscape Connections Project - supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project brings together farmers, communities, young people and conservation organisations to create a more resilient landscape for people and nature across the Shropshire Hills.
Ancient Woodland Restoration Project - a partnership with Woodland Trust and Forestry Commission to actively restore anciend woodland and Plantations on Ancient Woodland Sites (PAWS) in the Shropshire Hills.
Young Rangers - the programme offers young people (aged 12-16) new opportunities for exploration, learning and adventure in the great outdoors.
Clun peatlands & headwaters - we are working with partners to better understand the Clun catchment headwaters, it’s soils and the role of water in this landscape.
Recent past projects:
Nature Calling - a national project inviting you to enjoy and connect in new ways of experiencing our natural world. 'Whispers of the Hills' is our community art project in the Shropshire Hills that is bringing together people from diverse backgrounds in the Telford and Wrekin area.
Stepping Stones - Restoring habitat networks around the Long Mynd and Stiperstones.
Our Upland Commons - we are one of four upland landscapes involved in this project to reconnect people with commons and improve public benefits. The project is managed by the Foundation for Common Land on behalf of a broad partnership.
Springs of Rivers Teme, Onny, Clun Project: - Working in partnership with Severn River’s Trust, the project helped farmers in the Teme, Onny & Clun catchments to make their farms future fit.
Unmuddying the Waters: a two year agreement with the Environment Agency to continue to advise landowners along the river and fund capital works to improve the condition of the catchment.
