How can the Shropshire Hills be a home to thriving people in a thriving place
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/thriving-in-the-shropshire-hills-tickets-1392880516119How can the Shropshire Hills be a home to thriving people in a thriving place, while respecting the wellbeing of all people, and the health of the planet?
A participative workshop to explore regenerative approaches to looking after places.
This is about going beyond just ‘reducing harm’, and instead working to be ‘net positive’, increasing the capacity of social, economic and living systems, and creating the conditions for all life to renew and restore itself. Regenerative approaches are well established in farming, and more recently in tourism, but can be applied to whole economies and places.
Help to progress our use of the ‘Doughnut Economics’ model for the Shropshire Hills. This tool helps us understand how we can meet everyone’s needs within the means of the living planet. It brings together the ecological boundaries we need stay within and the essential aspects of people’s wellbeing. We will look at how well the Shropshire Hills is achieving this balance and what we need to work on to help achieve this.
Who is the event for? You may be involved in a community group, a Parish Council, environmental work, food and farming, work to improve people’s wellbeing, or just have an interest in seeking solutions to the big issues that face us.
What to bring? An open mind!
What to expect? An interactive session focussed on future potential of the area. Building up a ‘portrait’ of our place to help guide its future, using the knowledge of those takingpart, across social and ecological factors.
This workshop is free. Please book your plave via Eventbrite.
Event starts at 9:30am.
