Welcome to Brow Farm's Hillforts Walk
This a a two-mile walk up into the hills on the other side of the river. You'll get to visit two Iron Age hillforts that few people have walked to in recent years because they weren't on a footpath. With Farmer John's premission we've opened up a route for you to explore.
It's a bit of a climb if you are not used to it (even if you are you'll find it a good challenge) but the views are well worth the effort.
If taking a dog or dogs, please keep them on their leads if there's sheep or cows about.
Keep an eye on the weather - as there's no shelter up there and it's VERY exposed (if in doubt take a coat). Please leave gates as you find them.
If you are taking a picnic, please don't leave any litter, or light any fires.
Start at campsite and walk down to the brook. You can either cross at the foot bridge or footbridge next to the ford.
Follow the Shropshire Way up the valley, past the old mill. As you approach a stream running down across the path, you'll see a bit finger post pointing up a the steep valley edge onto Ratlinghope Hill.
Keep going as the slope becomes easier and you'll eventually reach a big field gate onto a level track above the valley. You'll find another QR on a panel at the next gate.
